People of the Founding Era derives its biographical content from the digital editions of the Founding Era, some of which began as print publication (Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Washington), while others were born digital (Dolley Madison and Eliza Lucas Pinckney). Still others were never digitized (Benjamin Rush). Finally, projects such as Virginia Printers, The Geography of Slavery in Virginia, and Creating a New Federal Government are online datasets that have been repurposed for inclusion in PFE.
PFE was developed with generous grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. It is a publication of Documents Compass, a program of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities at the University of Virginia. © 2013–2024, University of Virginia Press, All rights reserved. ISBN 978-0-8139-3253-8
